Values

Advising instead of imposing

We strive for long-lasting peace and democratic societies, but we advise, we do not impose. Organic approaches are preferable to ready-made advice. We will advise any organization working for peace if it accepts the working principles of the foundation and if PeaceNexus can add value.

Discretion

Information integrity is our watch-word. We work discreetly. Lessons to learn from each case are collected in prior consultation with the client. Examples that are used to share experience with others are entirely anonymous.

Demand driven (typically)

We mostly prefer to respond to specific requests, act in support of our clients, and thus remain in the background. However, as a neutral and financially independent player, we can afford taking risk where others can’t. Consequently, if suggested by stakeholders we consider becoming proactive and take ownership of activities that complete the general process.

Investing in local capacity

We provide support to build expertise of local NGO partners. Capacity-building of organizations in conflict regions is part of our vision for long lasting peace.

Needs-oriented, but honest and critical

We operate with empathy. This means that we first seek to understand the internal structures and dynamics of an organization we work for; it is only through the awareness of the potential and limits of our clients that we can assist them effectively. At the same time we will share our honest observations with them, including critical ones, in order to contribute meaningfully to finding constructive improvements.
